<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion valve which can be attached to an evaporator while attached to the side of an internal heat exchanger. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A passage forming member 11 mounted with an expansion valve function part 12 is inserted from the side of a double-pipe heat exchanger 3A of a case 10, and an expansion valve outlet of the passage forming member 11 is connected by a seal metal fitting 44 inserted from the outer side of an opening part 17 connected to a refrigerant inlet 4 of the evaporator 2. The case 10 is aluminum die cast, and seal faces of the opening parts 16, 17, 18 by O-rings 29, 46, 47 are tapered inner wall faces 16A, 17A, 18A. Since the expansion valve 1 is attached to the side of the internal heat exchanger by fitting an outer pipe 21 of the double-pipe heat exchanger 3A to the opening part 16, fitting an inner pipe 20 to a cylindrical joint part 27 of the passage forming member 11 and fixing the outer pipe 21 and the case 10 by a pipe clamp 31, the expansion valve 1 is easily attached to the evaporator 2 by bolts.
