<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel bearing apparatus with a rotational speed detecting device, which is reduced in weight and size, and has improved reliability by preventing foreign matter from directly intruding into a detection part. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A cover 17 includes a cylindrical fitting portion 17a that is press-fit to an end of the inner side of an outer member 5, a guard portion 17b extending radially inwardly from the fitting portion 17a and making close contact with an end face 5c of the outer member 5, a bottom portion 17c extending radially inwardly from the guard portion 17b, and an inner diameter portion 17d extending in the axial direction from the bottom portion 17c, wherein a small diameter portion 2b is formed in an outer diameter of an inner ring 2, a sensor seal 21 is mounted in the small diameter portion 2b, and the sensor seal 21 comprises a core metal 22 that is press-fit into the small diameter portion 2b of the inner ring 2, and a seal member 23 integrally joined to the core metal 22 and having integrally a radial lip 23a being in slidable contact with the inner diameter portion 17d of the cover 17.
