The visual aid (10) has a producing unit (12) for producing a distance image (14) of a surrounding of a user (16) with a distance value for a set of spatial angle ranges (24). A stimulation unit (18) stimulates a skin (20) of the user at different points of the skin based on the distance image and under assigning of the spatial angle ranges to the different points of the skin, so that the stimulation of the skin at the different points takes place based on sampling value of the assigned spatial angle ranges. The producing unit comprises a distance sensor. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a visual assisting method (2) a perception aid with a sensor and a stimulating unit (3) a computer program with a program code for executing a visual assisting method.
