The balloon catheter comprise an inflatable balloon (2) with ends (3) attached to it's catheter tube (1). In an uninflated state the outside surface of the balloon (2) is provided with a relief structure (4), which is disappeared in an inflated state of the balloon (2). The relief structure (4) comprises grooves (5) that extends at least in the longitudinal direction of the balloon (2). An Independent claim is included for a method of manufacturing a balloon catheter.
