<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-cycle engine capable of greatly reducing unburned gas contained in exhaust gas and reducing manufacturing cost with a small and simple structure. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The two-cycle engine 1A includes a piston 50 installed in a cylinder 60, an exhaust passage leading to a combustion chamber 62, scavenging passages 20, 20 providing communication between a crank chamber 10 and the combustion chamber 62, air intake passages 40, 40 and a mixed gas intake passage 30 leading to the crank chamber 10. In the two-cycle engine, the air intake passages 40, 40 open at side parts of the crank chamber 10 at the scavenging passages 20, 20 side of the mixed gas intake passage 30, and air flowing into the crank chamber 10 from the air intake passages 40, 40 flows to the scavenging passage 20, 20 side more than mixed gas flowing into the crank chamber 10 from the mixed gas intake passage 30.
