<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for easily and accurately detecting an infiltration position of leakage of rain. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A method for inspecting leakage in a roof of a building comprises: preparing a clay material which consists of an oil clay containing fats and oils having plasticity, adhesiveness and water resistance; making the clay material in watertight come into contact with a tangential plane, around the exterior section of a building that is assumed to be a cause of the leakage in the roof, such that the clay material is fit to irregularities and level difference in the tangential plane; forming a pocket having a clearance inside the tangential plane, wherein the clay material is made to be imposed on the surface of the exterior section; providing a clay material protruded section by extending the periphery of the pocket along the tangential plane, to form an edge and forming a fluid receiving component having an opening by expanding a range that is imposed; pouring a fluid from the opening into the fluid receiving component to detect a cause of the leakage in the roof; and peeling the clay material from the tangential plane with a peeling force.
