A drilling tool connection (135, 301) includes a male pin (205, 305), a female box connector (225, 325), and a locking pin (265, 365). The male pin includes a hexagonal outer perimeter (215), at least a portion of the pin having a cylindrical bore (210, 310) along a longitudinal axis of the pin (265, 365), where the pin has a transverse slot (220, 320) formed transverse to the longitudinal axis of the pin. The box connector element includes a hexagonal aperture (227, 327) aligned with a longitudinal axis of the box. The box connector element has at least one transverse bore (240, 340) formed in the box (225, 325) adapted to receive the hexagonal portion (215) of the male pin (205). The locking pin (265, 365) is insertable through an aperture defined by the slot (220, 320) of the male pin (205, 305) and the bore (240, 340) of the box (225, 325).
