METHOD FOR OPTIMIZING SELECTION OF DONOR'S FLAP IN RECONSTRUCTING MAMMARY GLANDS WITH INFERIOR TRANSVERSE ABDOMINAL FLAP ON RECTUS MUSCLE

A method for optimizing the selection of the donor's flap in reconstructing the mammary glands with inferior transverse abdominal flap on the rectus muscle comprises the angiography of the epigastral blood vessels and the assessment of the architectonics of the blood vessels. Indigo carmine is administered as a contrasting substance. The stained area of the anterior abdominal wall is considered as the site with the best vascular supply appropriate for reconstructing the mammary gland. When the staining is appropriate suggesting the satisfactory blood supply TRAM reconstruction with one peduncle is performed. When the staining is faint, TRAM reconstruction with two peduncles is more appropriate.
