The system (2) has region controllers (4a-4d) provided for regions (8a-8d) that are spatially separated from each other. Region valves (6a-6d) for respective extinguishing nozzle head (22) is controlled by the respective controllers. One of the controllers with fire detection information supports local fire detection unit (24b-24d), where the controllers are activated by the fire detection unit in case of fire. The fire detection unit is directly connected to one of the controllers, where the controllers are connected to a central computer (16) by a closed ring communication bus (18). An independent claim is also included for a method for detecting a fire.
