PURPOSE: A password input apparatus and a control method thereof are provided to effectively prevent a password leakage by successively transferring an input key. CONSTITUTION: A power supply unit(10) supplies an external power supply to an apparatus. A setting unit(20) comprises a set button setting a password and an imaginary number key. A memory unit(30) comprises a password registration part and an imaginary number key registration part. A display unit(70) displays the imaginary number key through an illumination or a shading according to data of the imaginary number key registration part. A key input unit(80) is composed in order to input a password and an imaginary number key. A driving unit(40) selectively operates an opening and shutting switch according to the manipulation of the key input unit. A controlling unit(90) stores corresponding data through the setting unit to the memory unit. The controlling unit controls the operation of an opening and a shutting switch by the driving unit as a medium.
