IMAGE IDENTIFYING METHOD AND IMAGING APPARATUS

PURPOSE: An image identifying method and an imaging apparatus are provided to discriminate an object in high precision as the result of judging the categories of a block for a judgment target image. CONSTITUTION: A discrimination unit(10) has a memory unit(20) and an operating unit(30). An image feature amount computation unit(33) computes the image feature amount of a block image. A separated focal plane computation unit(34) computes a focal plane, and a category judgment unit(35) judges the categories of the block from the feature amount of an input image and the separated focal plane data. A block image grouping unit(36) groups the category groups, and a matching check unit(37) checks the contradiction from the location relationship between each block and the block group.
