It is intended to provide a cell culture container and a cell culture method whereby an intercellular network can be effectively constructed in the culture space. The cell culture container (10) is a cell culture container (10) having a plural number of microcontainers (11) on the surface, characterized in that convexes (side walls (12)) are formed to divide adjacent microcontainers (11) and the cells are prevented from adhesion to the upper face of the convexes. Owing to this structure, the cells are cultured exclusively within the microcontainers (11) and an intercellular network can be effectively constructed.
