PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display apparatus and an image display method used therefor are provided to improve the image quality of a liquid crystal panel by suppressing nonuniformity of brightness of a screen end. CONSTITUTION: An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) panel(34) displays a video signal. A backlighting device(35) is arranged on the rear end of a liquid crystal panel. The backlighting device is divided by a plurality of areas. The backlighting device has a light source. The light source irradiates the light in a plurality of areas. A luminescent brightness operation unit(22) obtains luminescent brightness through a plurality of areas and virtual regions.
