The device has upper and lower retainers (3, 2) for centering a spring (1) mounted on a shock absorber. The upper retainer has an eccentric ring (31) relative to a vertical axis (z) of a MacPherson strut and assuring centering of an upper turn of the spring. Angular position of the ring is chosen such that the ring moves the turn over a longitudinal axis (x) of the strut by a value less than 8 mm, during assembling the upper retainer. The angular position of the spring is used for a right-drive vehicle, and a diametrically opposite position of the spring is used for a left-drive vehicle.
