PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for reducing CQI reporting overhead in a mobile telecom system for supporting Dual-cell HSDPA(High Speed Downlink Pack Access) are provided to CQI reporting overhead by determining the transmission of each CQI by a terminal supporting the Dual-cell HSDPA. CONSTITUTION: A measurement unit measures the quality for first and second forward direction channels. A comparision unit compares the quality of first and second forward direction channels. A selection unit selects one of the quality of first and second forward direction channels. A transmission unit transmits CQI(channel quality indicator) corresponding to the selected quality.
