A composite skid shoe is disclosed that is selectively coupleable to a housing of an implement to establish an offset between the housing and a work surface. The composite skid shoe comprises a composition that is at least partially non-metallic, and preferably substantially all ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene, to establish a composite skid shoe that is durable, resilient, aesthetically pleasing, and economical to manufacture. In one aspect, the composite skid shoe comprises a plurality of surfaces and corresponding planes that are oriented to establish a form factor having a leading portion. The leading portion has a leading surface at a leading surface angle and a leading lower surface at a leading lower surface angle that both accommodate and absorb undulations in the work surface and work environment interactions.
