<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a knee protection airbag apparatus capable of stably preventing an accessory of a key inserted in a key cylinder from damaging the airbag even in a configuration in which a folded airbag is contained within a column cover of a steering column. <P>SOLUTION: In a knee protection airbag apparatus M, a door portion 26 of a column cover 16 includes a side door portion 30 provided below a key cylinder 22 on the side of a side surface 18c of the column cover 16. The side door portion 30 includes a hinge portion 31, which is the rotation center when the side door portion 30 is opened, arranged so as to follow an axial direction C of a steering column in an upper edge side, and a lower edge 30b, which is a distal end when the side door portion 30 is opened. The side door portion 30, when opened, exists between an accessory SK and the inflated airbag, with the outer surface thereof positioned to the accessory SK side and with the inner surface thereof positioned to the airbag side.
