<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auto-loading control method of a printer which can avoid a collision between recording paper remaining on a printing position or the like and recording paper inserted into a paper conveyance path. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When it is detected that the tip of manually-inserted fan-fold paper 10 reaches an upstream side detecting position E which is upstream more than a delivery roller 21, it is detected whether or not the other fan-fold paper 10 is present on a downstream side detection position F which is downstream of a printing position. When there is the other fan-fold paper 10, the conveyance operation of conveying the recording paper by rotating the delivery roller 21 is not started. In other words, when an upstream end of the other fan-fold paper 10 stays on a point of the downstream side from the delivery roller 21 on the paper conveyance path, the conveyance operation of the inserted fan-fold paper 10 is not started, and therefore the collision of the paper on a common paper conveyance path D can be avoided to be brought into a jamming state.
