<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traveling control apparatus capable of avoiding collision with an obstacle and secondary collision by a proper control according to a condition. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the traveling control apparatus 1, when it is determined that its own vehicle might collide with an obstacle, a deceleration control is executed, so as to avoid collision of its own vehicle and the obstacle. Also, the traveling control device 1 maintains deceleration control even after a predetermined time has elapsed from the start of the deceleration control as an operating condition defined based on a peripheral environmental information, when collision actually occurs from the start of execution of the deceleration control till a predetermined time has elapsed, or when its own vehicle is positioned near a crossing, where possibility for colliding with vulnerable road users is higher than other places.
