The manhole covering has a partially rotating supporting element fastened on a horizontal bar at a distance from a vertical bar. A circulating seal (1) made of a rubber-like material i.e. silicone, is arranged on the horizontal bar between the supporting element and the vertical bar. A manhole cover is fastened to a supporting frame by screws. The seal has a hollow chamber (2), which is provided over the supporting element in an unloaded initial condition. The cover is pressed on the supporting element in a mounted condition, where the hollow chamber is pressed together with the cover.
