PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hermetic compressor manufacturable at low cost. SOLUTION: In this hermetic compressor having an electric element and a compression element in a hermetic container, a discharge pipe for discharging a refrigerant gas from the hermetic container comprises the inner and outer pipes of the upper hermetic container which forms the upper side of the hermetic container. Since the material of the inner pipe is steel and the material of the outer pipe is copper, the hermetic compressor can be manufactured at low cost. Since one opening of the inner pipe is enlarged and connected to the outer pipe, and welded to the upper hermetic container with a brazing filler, the welding of the discharge pipe to the upper hermetic container with the brazing filler can be performed in the same manner as before.
