<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus with improved safety by detecting the use of a forged finger and impersonation by a malicious user in an authentication apparatus using the veins. <P>SOLUTION: The biometric authentication apparatus for performing biometric authentication processing includes: a light source for irradiating an object with light; a detector facing the object, for detecting the light irradiated from the light source to the object, and creating an image; a control means for controlling the detector; and a biological information extraction means for extracting biological information from the created image, and performing biometric authentication. The control means controls the detector to acquire a first image in a first control state and acquire a second image in a second control state. The biological information extraction means extracts first biological information from the acquired first image, extracts second biological information from the acquired second image, and discriminates whether or not the object is a living body from a difference between the extracted first biological information and the extracted second biological information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
