BELT CONTROLLER, IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS, AND BELT SKEWING CONTROL METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus using a belt conveyance device and capable of preventing a belt from skewing and forming a color image having no color slippage.

SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, difference in time when the conveyance belt moves between two points being apart from each other by a predetermined distance in a direction for circulating a supporting face of the conveyance belt 10 for conveying toner image or a paper and a direction crossing the direction orthogonally is obtained based on the time when an end part of the conveyance belt is detected at the two points. One end in the direction of width of the conveyance belt is displaced by a steering roller 21 to tilt one end in the direction of width of the conveyance belt by a predetermined amount in the direction for circulating the supporting face of the conveyance belt body or the direction crossing the former direction orthogonally and move the supporting face of the conveyance belt body by a predetermined amount of travel in the direction for circulating it and the direction crossing the former direction orthogonally by at least one rotary shaft based on the obtained difference in time so that a full color image having no color slippage can be formed.
