<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a superconducting wire rod capable of enhancing superconducting characteristics such as critical current by enhancing crystal orientation of a superconducting phase, and to provide the superconducting wire rod. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the superconducting wire rod includes a preparing process of a single core wire rod for preparing a precursor wire rod having a structure of precursor powder covered by a coating layer made of metal, a multi-core making process and a first rolling process, a peripheral region sintering process for sintering the precursor powder in a peripheral region contacting with the coating layer by conducting current to the coating layer to heat the same at a first sintering temperature, and a central region sintering process for sintering the precursor powder in the central region surrounded by the peripheral region by heating the precursor wire rod at a second sintering temperature lower than a first sintering temperature after the peripheral region sintering process.
