PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user-friendly chair-type massager capable of preventing the occurrence of discomfort and tightness without requesting troublesome operations to a person to be massaged, and to provide an economical chair-type massager which eliminated uselessness. SOLUTION: The chair-type massager 1 is provided with: a backrest 10; sidewalls 14 provided on both right and left sides of the back rest 10; a seat 11; arm rests 13 provided on both sides of the seat 11; body side massagers 34 on the inner surfaces of the sidewalls 14; and forearm massagers 33 at the arm rests 13. The massager 1 comprises forearm placing surfaces 131 at the upper parts of the arm rests 13. The forearm placing surfaces 131 are provided with detection means 4 for detecting contact in areas from the placed elbows through to the finger tips of the person to be massaged. The detection means 4 performs control of changing the massage content of the body side massagers 34 and the forearm massagers 33 corresponding to the detected contact of the areas from the elbows through to the finger tips of the person to be massaged.
