PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a user from performing a power off operation when a system state is a power off prohibition state. SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus with a state notification part to notify the outside of a current system state includes: a system state management part which manages the system state; and a notification control part which controls the state notification part according to the system state grasped by the system state management part, wherein the notification control part controls, when it is grasped that the system state is at a power off prohibition state by the system state management part, the state notification part so as to notify the fact.
