PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus wherein the consumption of a photo conductor drum due to pre-rotation processing performed before performing print processing is prevented and the service life of the photo conductor drum is prolonged. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 includes an operation section 78, an image memory 73, an image read section 3 for reading an original placed on an original board 34 by an image read scanning section 33, an image recording section 4 of an electrophotographic system, and a control section 70 for performing the print processing after performing the pre-rotation processing of a process section in the image recording section when detecting that the original is read by the image read section. When a long service life mode is selected by the operation section 78 and the original is read by the image read scanning section, the print processing is performed after the prescribed number of original read data are stored in the image memory.
