<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent both a player and a television from performing image quality mode processing together. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When image quality mode processing is ON (sharp, color and contrast are selected), output resolutions of 480p and 720p are disabled from being selected so as not to function image quality enhancement processing of a video display device. Selection control of the output resolution is changed so as to iteratively select the mode of auto, 1,080i, 1,080p, auto, ..., each time a resolution changeover switch is pressed. When an output resolution of 480p or 720p is selected, on the other hand, the selection control of image quality mode processing is changed so as to disable image mode processing from selecting ON, thereby functioning image quality enhancement processing of the video display device.
