<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce failures in transferring paper money by automatically adjusting a threshold for determining the paper money. <P>SOLUTION: A paper money handling apparatus includes a discrimination unit discriminating the status of the paper money; a storing means which stores and manages the number of failures in transfer on each status rank in the classification into a plurality of status ranks according to the status of the paper money; and a control means for updating the number of generated failures, which are managed by the storing means, on the status rank where the paper money is discriminated when a failure occurs in transferring the paper money after discriminating the status of the paper money by the discrimination unit. The control means updates the threshold for processing the paper money on a purpose-by-purpose basis when the number of generated failures on one or more status ranks exceeds a prescribed value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
