PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a final output by automatically excluding a blank page from a read target in simultaneous double-side reading. SOLUTION: A read image processing unit 22 provided in a device such as a copy machine or a multifunction peripheral includes an image processing section 130a for performing predetermined image processing on image data of front and rear sides of documents sequentially inputted in parallel and outputting blank determination data indicating whether it is a blank page or not. Furthermore, there are included a memory 150 for temporarily storing the image data of the front and rear sides sent via the image processing section and a selector 170 for selectively outputting the image data of the front and rear sides from the memory 150 side by side. On the basis of the blank determination data output from the image processing section, a read control section 180 sets the selector 170 so as to output image data of the side, that is not blank, from the memory 150.
