PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bi-directional optical module of a single package type which is excellent in optical isolation. SOLUTION: The optical module has a filter, a light-receiving device, a light-emitting device, a block and a package. The filter has characteristics of transmitting the light of a first wavelength and reflecting the light of a second wavelength. The light-receiving device receives the light of the first wavelength which has transmitted through the filter. The light-emitting device emits the light of the second wavelength so as to be reflected by the filter. The block is a component for mounting the filter. The block has a slant surface for mounting the filter thereon, and the slant surface is along a surface crossing the light emitting direction of the light-emitting device and the passing direction of the light of the first wavelength. The block provides a space where the light of the first wavelength transmitted through the filter passes through, and the space forms at least a part of a triangle on the cross section orthogonal to the passing direction of the light of the first wavelength.
