PURPOSE: A tactic formation flight control system and method using energy maneuvering scheme are provided to reduce the fuel consumption of follower aircrafts during tactic formation by creating speed commands based on feedback linearization and obtaining the speed and altitude of the follower aircrafts through conversion of the speed commands into altitude commands. CONSTITUTION: A secondary filter(11) creates reference signals for speed, altitude, and azimuth and provides the reference signals to follower aircrafts. A command generator(21) calculates the speed and azimuthal commands based on the reference signals and creates energy and altitude commands based on energy maneuver scheme. An automatic regulator(22) controls horizontal formation geometry of the follower aircrafts through sliding control scheme and proportional integral control scheme.
