<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image-forming device which grasps a deterioration state of a developer and controls the state of the deteriorated developer, according to the deterioration state thus grasped, to prolong the durability of the developer. <P>SOLUTION: The image-forming device is provided with a means for changing a deterioration state of developer, which changes the friction state of a developer in a developer staying area A on the upstream side in the developer conveying direction than the layer thickness-regulating member 44 of a developer-carrying body 43.
