<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size of an automatic transmission incorporating an electronic control unit. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A unit base 30 having two electronic control units (AT ECU 42 and SBW ECU 44) is formed as a portion of a case of a strainer 50 by a metal plate composing the bottom of the unit base 30 to sandwich a seal material 36 and block an opening 56 formed at an upper part of the strainer 50. Compared with a structure configured by having a unit base as a totally separate body from the strainer 50, this transmission 20 can be compactly stored inside a transmission case 21.
