PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce processing load and cost of a base station in a system which detects a random access signal transmitted by a terminal to inform the base station of a request for transmission in an uplink. SOLUTION: In the base station, use of an MF (Matched Filter) or Fourier transformation and inverse Fourier transformation, which are specific to random access signal detection, is eliminated, and a Fourier transform section for data signals is used for random access signal detection. For the output of the Fourier transform section for data signals, whether a random access signal is arriving is determined by the power pattern in a band assigned for random access signals within one transmission-time interval.
