PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester having an improved crystallinity and color tone comparing with conventional ones by adding a specific phosphorous compound in a process to obtain a polyester in the presence of a titanium-based polycondensation catalyst. SOLUTION: The method for producing a polyester having a temperature-rising crystallization temperature of≥110°C and≤155°C and a temperature-falling crystallization temperature of≥170°C and≤220°C comprises adding a phosphorus compound represented by formula 1 in an optional stage of esterification or transesterification reaction of a dicarboxylic acid or an ester-forming derivative thereof and a diol or an ester-forming derivative thereof and followed polycondensation reaction in the presence of titanium-based polycondensation catalyst, wherein X is a hydroxy group, 1-20C hydrocarbon group, 1-20C ester group, and halogen group element.
