<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a loss of electrostatic capacitance caused by a decreasing effective area even if the thickness of an internal electrode layer is reduced down to 1 μm or less, relating to a multilayer ceramic electronic component. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The internal electrode layer 11 of metal foil is provided. When the temperature is 1,000-1,300°C during rising of temperature in a baking step, controlling a temperature rising speed to 800-1,000°C/h suppresses the presence ratio of an internal electrode 12 against the internal electrode layer 11 to be 70-90% and the area of an electrically discontinuous island part 21 to be less than 10%. Owing to this, a multilayer ceramic electronic component is manufactured at high yield while ensuring a desired electrostatic capacitance even if the thickness of the internal electrode layer 11 is 1 μm or less, for good electric characteristics and high reliability.
