The carrier element (2) has an upper side (3) and a lower side (4) lying opposite to the upper side, and two recesses (8, 8') laterally located at the carrier element. The recesses extend from the upper side to the lower side of the carrier element, where the carrier element is elongate, continuous and bent in a longitudinal direction. The recesses are shifted to each other in a longitudinal direction of the carrier element. The recesses partially overlap in the direction of the carrier element. Narrow sides (5, 5') connect the upper side with the lower side of the carrier element. An independent claim is also included for a brush comprising a carrier element.
