<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge device capable of maintaining high plasma output even if operating conditions are changed when used for an internal combustion engine. <P>SOLUTION: This discharge device includes a first electrode 51, a second electrode 52 surrounding the first electrode 51, and a dielectric 53 which covers either one of the first electrode 51 or the second electrode 52. The discharge gap which is the distances between the dielectric 53 and the other electrode 52 is different according to the position of the first electrode 51 in the longitudinal direction. Consequently, even if the density of the gas in a tube during the discharge is changed according to the change of the operating conditions, the discharge device can generate a high plasma output with a discharge gap at any portion. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
