PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable medical instrument popular especially to users of blood sugar meter or the like, which can be operated easily by visually handicapped persons. SOLUTION: The portable medical instrument is provided with a battery housing part 2 for housing a battery 8 inside or outside an instrument body 1 and a battery cover 3 fixed on the instrument body 1 by a hinge 4 to cover the battery housing part 2. The battery cover 3 is provided with a guide mechanism 9 for assisting mounting/removing of the battery 8, and the guide mechanism 9 is a groove of a shape matching a plurality of projections arranged on a rear face of the battery cover 3 or at least a part of an external shape of the battery 8.
