PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that achieves printing with high productivity while preventing positional deviation of an image with reference to recording material from occurring when controlling conveying speed. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an image forming part which forms an image and transfers the formed image to recording material at a transfer position; a plurality of paper supply parts which supply the recording material; a conveyance path in which the conveying speed of the recording material supplied from each of the plurality of paper supply parts is varied and through which the recording material is conveyed to the image forming part through a predetermined position on an upstream side in a conveying direction of the recording material and the transfer position; and a control means which controls the conveying speed of the recording material from the predetermined position to the transfer position along the conveyance path so that the image formed by the image forming part can be transferred to the recording material at the transfer position. The control means has a plurality of conveying speed control patterns for conveying the recording material in which at least one of speed, acceleration and deceleration differs from each other, and selects the conveying speed control patterns (S16 and S17) in accordance with the paper supply part to supply the recording material.
