PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illuminating apparatus which can miniaturize its whole and avoid its abnormal temperature rise. SOLUTION: In a circuit substrate 7a having a fluorescent lamp and an inverter main circuit for feeding a power to the fluorescent lamp, there is provided a lighting device surface-mounted with a ceramic chip capacitor C3 (C4, C5) so as to overlap with a portion 76a (76b, 76c) of the circuit pattern of the inverter main circuit.
