Provided is a fuel cell separator, which has a gas passage face formed in one face thereof with a meandering gas passage and a coolant passage face formed in the other face thereof with a meandering coolant passage and which has an undulating sectional shape.  The gas passage includes gas-straight regions having two or more grooves defined by ribs, and a gas-turn region for connecting the gas-straight regions to each other.  Moreover, the gas-turn region includes an intermediate face which is shallower than the bottom face of the gas passage and which has protrusions formed thereon.  The coolant passage includes coolant-straight regions having two or more grooves defined by ribs, and a coolant-turn region for connecting the coolant-straight regions to each other.  Moreover, the coolant-turn region includes an intermediate face which is shallower than the bottom face of the coolant passage and which has protrusions formed thereon.  In the fuel cell separator, the area of the top faces of the protrusions in the gas-turn region is larger than the area of the top faces of the protrusions in the coolant-turn region.
