The distance measuring device has a display screen (1) for displaying measurement objects (2), and a position mark (3) arranged on the measurement objects. Another position mark (4) is movably arranged opposite to the former position mark in such a manner that the distance of the measurement objects is determined by comparing the distance of the both position marks on measurement basis. An independent claim is included for a method for determining the distance of measurement objects, particularly combat vehicles.
