PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract information embedded in electronically-created contents.

SOLUTION: An embedded information detecting apparatus includes a control unit 110 that extracts partial information containing embedded information from a partial area of a content 102 and controls decoding of the embedded information, and a decoding unit 130 that performs a decoding process of decoding a plurality of code words contained in the embedded information from the partial information extracted by the control unit 110. When the decoding process is successfully performed by the decoding unit 130, the decoding unit 130 notifies the control unit 110 of completion of the decoding process so that each of the control unit 110 and the decoding unit 130 performs a parallel processing in an asynchronous manner. The control unit 110 repeatedly extracts the partial information and sends the extracted partial information to the decoding unit 130 until the embedded information in the partial information is successfully decoded.
