<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for suppressing an increase amount of a size and cost of a power conversion apparatus without changing DC breakdown voltage specification of a rectifier diode with increased capacity of the power conversion apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The power conversion apparatus 100 includes first and second converters 80 and 81 having power conversion elements and converting AC/DC, and smoothing capacitors Cp and Cn smoothing pulsating flow of DC voltage between a bus bar P of a positive-side DC power supply and a bus bar COM of a neutral point power supply, and between the bus bar COM and a bus bar N of a negative-side DC power supply. The power conversion apparatus 100 also includes an initial charging circuit 40 which initially charges the smoothing capacitors Cp and Cn. Voltage reduction rectifier diodes DU1 and DU2 and a voltage balancing resistor R1 are introduced into single phase full wave rectification bridge circuits P1 and P2 in the initial charging circuit 40. Thus, an increase amount of the size and cost can be suppressed without changing DC breakdown voltage specification of the rectifier diodes D1 to D8. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
