PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens barrel and an imaging apparatus that, when a rotating body such as a ball is used as a follower instead of a cam pin, by increasing the strength against an external force that is acting thereon to reduce drive load of the lens barrel, achieve at least one among reducing noise and increasing the drive speed, and to achieve the improvement of the lens holding precision of such a lens barrel and an imaging apparatus. SOLUTION: When the external force that is equal to or greater than the urging force of a first group ball spring 3b is applied to a first group lens holder 3, a first group ball follower 3a is dislocated from a first group cam groove 8b, and a first group external force receiving groove 8h and a first group external force receiving pin 3c are brought into engagement to receive the external force instead. When the external force that has been applied to the first group lens holder 3 is released, the first group ball follower 3a is restored to the first group cam groove 8b due to the urging force of the first group ball spring 3b.
