<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indicating instrument for a vehicle reducing glare to a driver. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A return-to-zero signal already-adjusted through phase angle adjustment processing is output to magnetic field windings 32 and 33 to drive a magnet rotor Mr. Then, a drive signal is continuously output to drive the magnet rotor in the reverse direction in increments of a prescribed electrical angle to cause synchronism loss of a step motor M through locking in a stopper mechanism S. The number of remaining outputs of the drive signal is determined according to for what degree of the output drive signal in terms of an electrical angle the step motor M has lost synchronism.
