PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To store a spot and scale reduction of a map displayed at that point of time when deviating from a route, and to display a more detailed map when approaching the spot in the next traveling. SOLUTION: When detecting deviation from a route by a route deviation discrimination means during traveling along a guide route, this on-vehicle navigation device 1 stores the spot and the scale reduction of the map displayed at that time in a spot/map scale reduction storage means. In later route guide, when a present position detected by a present position detection means is in a prescribed distance range relative to a route deviation spot stored in the spot/map scale reduction storage means, a map scale reduction comparison means compares a scale reduction of the map displayed on a present display means with the map scale reduction stored in the spot/map scale reduction storage means. and when the present map scale reduction is not a more detailed map scale reduction than the stored map scale reduction, the map scale reduction to be displayed on the display means is changed into a more detailed map scale reduction.
