PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a dialkyldichlorosilane compound by which a dialkyldichlorosilane compound having a bulky secondary alkyl group or a primary alkyl group having an alkyl group in positionβby reacting a dialkyldichlorosilane with an acid chloride compound in the presence of an acid catalyst. SOLUTION: A process for producing a dialkyldichlorosilane represented by formula (3): R<SP>1</SP><SB>2</SB>SiCl<SB>2</SB>(wherein R<SP>1</SP>is as defined below) comprising reacting a dialkyldialkoxysilane of formula (1): R<SP>1</SP><SB>2</SB>Si(OR<SP>2</SP>)<SB>2</SB>(wherein R<SP>1</SP>s, which may be the same or different from each other, are each a secondary alkyl group or a primary alkyl group having an alkyl substituent in positionβand R<SP>2</SP>s, which may be the same or different from each other, are each a methyl group or an ethyl group) with an acid chloride compound of formula (2): R<SB>3</SB>COCL (wherein R<SP>3</SP>is a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent hydrocarbon group) in the presence of an acid catalyst.
